The Dance of Reality continues the search inspired by the universe of Alejandro Jodorowski, after the first step taken with the show I Float, I Drown, I Float. The research starts from the reading of “Mystical Cabaret” and the short tales collected in this book from the legacy of various philosophical cultures and traditions – Sufi, Buddhist, Alchemy, Koan, Haiku, Zen, Tibetan. A journey through the contradictions of the human being, but always in a humorous tone, because ‘Wisdom and witticisms are combined’ (Ludwig Wittgenstein).

Jodorowsky enchants us for his visionary look upon reality and the existential condition of human beings. While capturing them with accuracy and depth, he also projects them into a surreal and fantastic dimension, expanding their impact and meaning to an extreme length. Through his vision, existence looks like the journey of a travelling community, like a great circus where an overwhelming humanity in motion on an imaginary and submerged path continuously alternates between floating, drowning, floating.

We went through the topics and imagery that the stories suggested, then we created original and personal material which naturally distanced itself from its source. The main topic is the complexity of contemporary life, and the old, ancient nature of mankind persisting in contemporary times. Fragility, conflicts, relations, innocence, violence. Speed, unrelenting pace. Poetry blends with the grotesque.
